Here’s everything you need to know about the plug-in van grant…

Government is going further and faster to decarbonise transport by phasing out the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030, and, from 2035, all new cars and vans must be zero emissions at the tailpipe. Between 2030 and 2035, any new cars and vans sold that emit from the tailpipe must have significant zero emission capability.

The plug-in van grant (PIVG) was launched in 2012 to help bridge the price gap between the cost of ultra-low emission vans and diesel vans. *1

New ultra-low and zero emission vans purchased in the UK are eligible for the plug-in van grant – a Government subsidy that reduces the price of these commercial vehicles. The idea is to encourage businesses that can make the switch to electric vans to do so.

This policy is a key part of the country’s goal for every van on British roads to be electric by 2050, in turn enabling the target of net zero carbon by 2050 for the country as a whole. *2
