SYNETIQ, an IAA company, becomes first UK vehicle recycler to complete EV dismantling training
SYNETIQ continues to invest in its people to upskill and future-proof workforce
SYNETIQ, an IAA company, has become the first UK vehicle recycler to complete an Institute of Motor Industry-accredited course in EV dismantling.

Colleagues at the UK’s leading integrated salvage, dismantling and vehicle recycling company are now authorised EV dismantling technicians by the IMI.

Produced and written by Salvage Wire, a team of auto recycling training specialists, the course is the country’s first dismantling-specific training based on national occupational standards. It teaches participants how to make high voltage vehicles safe and how to remove high voltage components and batteries after the vehicle has been made safe.

This is the latest in a series of training sessions at SYNETIQ designed to upskill and future-proof its workforce as the industry adapts to a future of electric vehicles.

Natalie Buckley, HR Director at SYNETIQ said: “We continue to invest in our colleagues and help to ensure they are equipped with the latest tools, skills and knowledge to be safe in their roles and to deliver the very best result for our clients and customers.

“Despite the government’s decision to postpone the ban of petrol and diesel vehicles, we’re continuing to plan for a future where electric vehicles will be the norm. I’m proud that we are working with some of the industry’s most accomplished experts in leading the way in battery recycling.”

Andy Latham, CEO of Salvage Wire said: “We believe this is the first IMI-accredited EV dismantling course in the industry and SYNETIQ has joined us in leading the way to bring specialist EV training to the vehicle dismantling and recycling community.

“EVs can be dangerous to work with and knowing how to be safe around these vehicles is vital. This training has given the SYNETIQ team the knowledge and skills to do just that.”
