- Near-Term and Net-Zero targets approved by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
- SYNETIQ commits to reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50.4% by 2032 from a 2022 base year and for Scope 3 the aim for a 58.1% reduction per vehicle processed by 2032 from a 2022 base year
- SYNETIQ joined the initiative with a commitment letter in 2021 and has set near- and long-term company-wide emission reduction targets
SYNETIQ, an IAA company and one of the UK’s leading vehicle salvage, dismantling and recycling companies, today announced it has received validation of its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets from the Science Based initiative in line with the company’s ambition to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
The targets apply to SYNETIQ’s direct operations, with commitments to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50.4% and scope 3 emissions by 58.1% per vehicle processed by 2032.
“Our commitment to environmental responsibility and our actions to limit climate change underpin our vision to lead our industry toward a more sustainable future,” said Helen Carling, Commercial Director of SYNETIQ. “Having our targets validated by SBTi is a way to align our strategy with the latest science and provide us with a clear roadmap of action over the upcoming years and beyond.
“We’ve learned a lot on our journey so far,” Carling continued. “From establishing the embodied carbon in each vehicle part we reuse, to the carbon footprint of the salvage auction vehicles we sell on behalf of our clients.”
Below are SYNETIQ’s SBTi-approved targets:
- Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 (Market) GHG emissions 50.4% by 2032 from a 2022 base year.
- Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 58.1% per vehicle entering into operations by 2032 from a 2022 base year.
SYNETIQ has set out its emissions reduction priorities across seven areas: transport; estate; energy; circularity and waste; culture; offsetting; and compliance. In December 2021, SYNETIQ signed a letter of commitment with the Science Based Target initiative and joined over 2,000 companies worldwide setting actionable, science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets to limit global warming.
SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

“We are honoured that the Hyundai Motor Company has approved our innovative Tru-Point
ADAS calibration tool for use on its vehicles,” said Nicola Cattabriga, director OEM for Snap-on
Equipment. “Since it was introduced, Tru-Point has been a true game changer for shops who
perform ADAS repair and service. Our customers rave about its performance and how easy it is
to use. We know that dealers and service centres who specialise in servicing Hyundai, Kia and
Genesis vehicles will see the advantages of investing in Tru-Point for their businesses.”
The award-winning Tru-Point calibration tool performs a cheque of the ADAS-related wheel
alignment values and closely monitors each step of the setup procedure, ensuring that OEM
safety specifications have been met before an ADAS calibration is performed. Advanced
camera technology ensures that everything is placed correctly so the system automatically
compensates for the location of the vehicle. A comprehensive, easy-to-read report provides
documentation that the technician has executed all steps required for an accurate calibration.
Recently recognised with an Innovation Award at Automechanika 2024, the accompanying
accessories include the TGT-05 that enhances 360-view calibrations for manufacturers using
vinyl mats, a significant improvement over traditional methods, and the BKT-16 that further
advances ADAS accessory placement for blind spot calibrations, streamlining the calibration
process.
The Tru-Point website features system coverage videos that demonstrate calibration processes
and procedures in a clear, concise manner. New information has been added to help shops
ensure accurate calibrations and learn about floor space and lighting, service data, vehicle
alignment and target placement, as well as scan tool solutions. In addition, an ADAS profit
calculator illustrates how much revenue a shop can realise by performing ADAS procedures.
