We recently contacted you about the changes to the compliance requirements for vehicles imported from Japan.
We would like to add some additional clarification for Japanese imported vehicles.
Imported Japanese vehicles that have not been registered for at least 6 months
We want to clarify that the requirement for a vehicle to be registered in Japan for at least 6 months is changing.
A vehicle will no longer be required to be registered in Japan for at least 6 months in order to make use of the comparable standards, providing the application for approval is made at least 6 months after the vehicle’s date of first registration in Japan.
A compliant Export Certificate will still be required to demonstrate compliance irrespective of the actual time the vehicle has been registered in Japan.
Applications submitted within 6 months of first registration in Japan will need to be supported by an alternative means of demonstrating compliance.
