Over the last 20 years high-strength steels and aluminium have steadily increased. Where mild steel once dominated, vehicles now incorporate increasing levels of high-strength steels and aluminium to improve safety and reduce weight. Whilst Vehicle construction has evolved rapidly. Not all repair equipment has.

As the world leader in collision repair equipment, GYS continuously invests in research and development to ensure bodyshops are prepared for the ever-changing demands of modern vehicle construction.

2018 – Bespoke Pulse Welding for Bodyshops: As panels began to get thinner, bodyshops required greater control over heat input and arc stability to achieve precise welds without distortion.

2019 – Powerful Arc Pull Technology: As aluminium panels become increasingly common, bodyshops need dedicated aluminium repair solutions. ARC Pull uses gas-shielded drawn arc technology to produce clean, high-strength welds. Transforming bodyshops aluminium repair/replace ratio

2021 – Advanced Spot-Welding Technology: Stronger materials and adhesive bonding required greater power and accuracy. Intelligent spot-welding technology introduced automatic material recognition and parameter control, supporting consistent, traceable structural weld quality.

2022 – Traceable Multi-Material Joining: Modern vehicles frequently combine steel, aluminium and bonded joints within a single repair zone. Connected riveting introduced digital traceability for a historically basic process, supporting manufacturer approved repair procedures.

2024- Pulse Welding Becomes More Accessible:  Despite technical benefits, a barrier has existed for more widespread adoption of Pulse due to price. The GYS P series changes that as it is has been designed specifically for Bodyshop applications, negating the need for additional features.

2026 – Improved Usability, Accessibility and Efficiency:  Insurer requirements, repair speed and workshop output pressures have intensified in recent years. With this in mind, the PTI Genius+ improves accessibility and efficiency. Additionally, the new 7-inch intuitive digital screen simplifies setup and parameter selection, supporting faster operation and improved user control.

GYS operates the largest R&D in bodyshop repair technology, allowing it produce the best equipment for modern vehicle repair. This ongoing investment in innovation is reflected in the latest equipment, approved by vehicle manufacturers for today’s advanced vehicle technologies.
