Why Enter The Greener Bodyshop Awards?
Setting the standard for the repair industry.
The NBRA Greener Bodyshop Awards celebrate excellence across the UK vehicle repair industry, recognising businesses that are building a stronger, fairer and more future-ready sector.
Spanning environmental leadership and innovation through to people development, wellbeing, diversity, community impact and customer care, the awards shine a spotlight on those setting new standards for what a responsible, forward-thinking bodyshop looks like in 2026 and beyond.
GBA 2026: Main Awards
The Greener Bodyshop Award recognises vehicle repair businesses that are leading the way in reducing environmental impact and embedding sustainability into everyday operations. This award celebrates those taking meaningful action — from cutting carbon and reducing waste to investing in greener processes, smarter resource use and responsible recycling.
Whether you’re at the start of your sustainability journey or already setting the benchmark, this award gives you the opportunity to showcase the real steps you’re taking to create a more sustainable, future-ready bodyshop.
Entrants will be assessed on the evidence submitted and recognised at one of the following levels:
- Platinum – Industry Leader
Awarded to bodyshops setting the benchmark for environmental performance, with carbon reduction and sustainability fully embedded across their operations. These businesses demonstrate innovation, leadership and measurable impact, influencing best practice across the industry. - Gold – Excellence in Sustainability
Recognises organisations with a comprehensive and well-established approach to sustainability, delivering clear results through carbon management, resource efficiency and greener processes. - Silver – Strong Commitment
Awarded to bodyshops that have implemented effective sustainability initiatives and can evidence meaningful progress in reducing environmental impact across key areas of their business. - Bronze – Positive Progress
Recognises businesses that have taken clear, practical steps towards becoming greener, demonstrating commitment and momentum on their sustainability journey. - Award Not Achieved
For entrants who do not yet meet the minimum criteria. Feedback will be provided to help identify next steps and future improvement opportunities.
Show the industry how you’re driving positive change and helping shape a greener future for vehicle repair.
The Sustainability Award recognises a bodyshop, commercial repairer, body-builder or bodyshop group that is taking meaningful, measurable steps to reduce its environmental impact and move towards Net Zero.
This category celebrates businesses that are embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making, not treating it as a side project. Whether through energy efficiency, waste reduction, greener technologies, supply chain improvements or carbon measurement, we’re looking for credible action backed by evidence.
To enter, please outline:
- The initiatives or strategies you have implemented to reduce your environmental impact
- Any sustainability standards, certifications or benchmarks you are working towards (including the ARIES Standard)
- The results achieved and the impact these actions have had on both your business and the environment
Strong entries will demonstrate clear commitment, accountability and progress, showing how sustainability is becoming part of the way the business operates now and into the future.
GBA 2026: Innovation & Support
The Industry Innovation Award recognises businesses that have introduced new or improved ways of working that deliver real value.
To enter, applicants should clearly describe the innovation implemented, the problem it was designed to address and how it has been embedded within the business. Entries should demonstrate the impact achieved, such as improvements to efficiency, quality, sustainability, safety, customer experience or staff engagement.
Supporting evidence must show the innovation in practice and the difference it has made.
This award recognises a supplier, insurer, work provider or industry partner that has gone above and beyond in supporting NBRA or VBRA member bodyshops.
Entries should highlight how the nominated organisation has made a real and positive difference, from the way they support day-to-day operations to how they invest in people and long-term relationships. Judges will be looking for examples that demonstrate:
- A genuine commitment to the bodyshop sector
- Practical, hands-on support that helps bodyshops succeed
- An approach that supports sustainability and contributes to a greener industry
Tell us what makes this partner stand out and why their support goes beyond expectations.
GBA 2026: People
The Staff Wellbeing Award recognises any organisation across the vehicle repair industry that place the health, happiness and wellbeing of their people at the heart of how they operate.
This award celebrates businesses that go beyond good intentions to create a positive, supportive and healthy working environment, where people feel valued, listened to and able to thrive.
To enter, tell us:
- The wellbeing initiatives or practices you have introduced
- How these have positively impacted your team’s mental, emotional or physical wellbeing
- Any measurable results, feedback or engagement outcomes
- How wellbeing is embedded into your culture, not treated as a tick-box exercise
Whether your focus is mental health support, flexible working, physical health initiatives, training, or creating a culture of openness and inclusion, we want to understand how you prioritise your people and why it matters.
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award recognises a business that is actively building a workplace where people feel valued, respected and able to be themselves.
This award celebrates organisations that are turning commitment into action by embedding DE&I into everyday behaviours, policies and culture, and creating fair opportunities for everyone.
To enter, please tell us:
- How your organisation promotes diversity, equity and inclusion
- The initiatives, practices or changes you have implemented in the workplace
- The positive outcomes or improvements you have seen as a result of your efforts
Strong entries will show intentional action, cultural impact and real progress, demonstrating how inclusion is shaping a healthier, stronger workplace.
The Apprentice of the Year Award celebrates an apprentice who has gone above and beyond in their role, no matter where they sit within the business.
This award is open to apprentices across all areas, including paint, panel and MET, as well as customer service, management, HR and wider support functions. It recognises individuals who show commitment, enthusiasm and a strong willingness to learn, alongside those who demonstrate an understanding of sustainable practices and the importance of building a greener industry.
Entries should highlight how the apprentice has made a positive contribution to the workplace, shown personal growth and embraced responsible, forward-thinking ways of working.
The Charity & Community Impact Award recognises an individual, bodyshop, bodyshop group or supplier who uses their time, resources or influence to make a meaningful difference to others.
This award celebrates acts of generosity that go beyond the day job, supporting causes, communities and people who need it most. Whether through fundraising, volunteering, donations or long-term charity partnerships, we want to hear how compassion and purpose are being put into action.
Entries should share the story behind the support, the people or causes impacted and why giving back matters to your organisation. Strong entries will show how community, kindness and social responsibility are woven into the culture, not treated as a one-off gesture.
The Special Recognition Award honours an individual or organisation that has gone above and beyond, making an exceptional impact on a business, colleague, customer, community or the wider repair industry.
This award is reserved for moments, actions and people that don’t always fit neatly into a category, but absolutely deserve to be recognised. It celebrates kindness, leadership, courage, innovation or commitment shown when it mattered most.
Entries should share the story behind the recognition, explaining what was done, who it impacted and why it stood out. This award is about shining a light on those whose actions have left a lasting impression and truly embody the spirit of the industry.
The Pride of Industry Award celebrates an individual who embodies the values, resilience and dedication that make the vehicle repair industry something to be proud of.
This award recognises people who have faced challenges or adversity and continued to grow, contribute and excel. It may reflect a personal journey, professional perseverance or a consistent commitment to doing the right thing, even when it hasn’t been easy.
Entries should tell the story of the individual, outlining:
The challenge or adversity they have overcome
How they have grown, excelled or gone above and beyond in their role
The positive impact they have had on colleagues, customers or the wider industry
This award is about recognising character as much as achievement and celebrating individuals whose journey and contribution inspire those around them.
The Outstanding Customer Service Award recipient will be an individual who consistently delivers outstanding customer care and goes above and beyond to support customers during what is often a stressful and emotional time.
This award shines a spotlight on the people at the front of house – including VDAs and customer-facing team members – whose professionalism, empathy and communication make a real difference to the customer journey, yet are too often overlooked.
Entries should highlight how the individual builds trust, manages expectations and creates positive experiences through clear communication, care and attention to detail. Judges will be looking for examples of exceptional service, positive customer feedback and a genuine commitment to putting people first.
This award celebrates those who turn great service into lasting trust and represent the very best of the industry to every customer they support.
