National Body Repair Association’s webinar reaches over 100 people, including influential insurers, to discuss the future of the repair industry as Electric Vehicles will soon be frequent visitors to body shops.
The National Body Repair Association (NBRA) hosted their third and most successful webinar yet (23/02/2021), reaching over 100 unique attendees from the repair industry, with many more tuned in as teams on one device. The webinar was designed to explore the nature of Electric Vehicles (EV), as they are rapidly becoming an integral part of our future, and how this will impact the automotive repair industry.
NBRA’s EV webinar hosted by Thomas Hudd, NBRA Technical Manager and Gerry Braddock, NBRA National Commercial Manager. Including three guest speakers with considerable industry and EV knowledge:
– Dean Lander, Head of Repair Sector Services at Thatcham Research Repairs
– Pat Doherty, Technical Assessor Trainer Automotive at Training 2000 Ltd
– Steve Hodgson, Commercial Business / Technical Trainer, Assessor – Automotive at Training 2000 Ltd.
The webinar explored a range of topics including the importance of competent training to repair EVs for customer safety; training all staff, not just the technicians; insurers’ responsibilities and the 2030 Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) ban.
In addition to this, the results of a poll NBRA run during the webinar highlighted how useful these webinars are for attendees. In fact, when attendees were asked whether they had heard of the ‘Electricity at Work Regulation’, a surprising 59% said they had not. NBRA went on to address these regulations and how they are of growing significance, entering an era of EVs.
Chris Weeks, Executive Director of the National Body Repair Association commented: “Bodyshops are already repairing EV vehicles daily in a competent way. With these webinars however, NBRA can help repairers and the wider industry understand the future of EVs and HEVs. With 48v systems and even Hydrogen powered EVs now available, NBRA are providing essential information for our many repairer members who have a great deal yet to learn about the future of Electric Vehicles.
The future for the body repair industry is changing right before our eyes and NBRA are working hard to stay ahead, by understanding these changes and championing body shops through this transition.
