Today we share details of their ever-popular ADAS IMI AOM 230 and wheel alignment courses:
Two-day, IMI accredited ADAS IMI AOM 230 courses are available at the RMI Academy Southam site. The course is designed to ensure that a technician has the ability to calibrate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It demonstrates a technician’s ability to identify and correctly interpret information relating to a specific vehicle and its ADAS features to determine which method of calibration is required.
The course also assesses a technician’s ability to identify/locate and follow software-specific recalibration methods during the assessment process. They will be required to use the correct tools and equipment in order to demonstrate their ability to calibrate two ADAS sensors on a vehicle with a minimum of two operating systems. Participants will learn:
- Overview of ADAS
- Safe working practices and Health & Safety guidelines
- Technical information sources
- Types of diagnostic equipment available and required
- Relevant tools and equipment used when carrying out ADAS component calibration
- The calibration environment set by the manufacturer including instructions target types, ambient light levels, pre-conditions
- Different types of ADAS sensors and their function
- Features of ADAS system operation such as steering, braking, lane departure, adaptive cruise, blind spot assistant
- Workplace procedures for completing and storing documentation relating to ADAS calibration
- ADAS code of practice
- Static & Dynamic calibration
- Wheel alignment principles
- Hybrid systems
This course costs £475 + VAT for RMI members.
The RMI Academy of Automotive Skills’ two wheel alignment courses are held at their Southam and Runcorn sites:
Wheel Alignment Introduction & Awareness is a half day course for technicians with little or no knowledge of wheel alignment procedures. The course covers the safety and understanding of wheel alignment equipment, features and data, giving technicians knowledge of the various tools and equipment available and how to use them within the workplace. The course costs £100 + VAT for RMI members, and topics of study include:
- How to work safely using wheel alignment equipment
- How to understand the structure and flexibility of the equipment
- How to use varied equipment dependent on manufacturer
- Positioning of the vehicle
- Flexibility within equipment
- Vehicle safety features
- Alignment steps
Wheel Alignment Awareness & Practical is a one-day course for technicians with some prior knowledge of wheel alignment procedures, and covers the features and safety of wheel alignment equipment and data, including adjusting. In addition to the subject areas mentioned above, this course includes a practical element where technicians will be able to demonstrate and use the equipment within the workshop, enabling them to put what they have learnt into practice on the same day. This course is available to RMI members at £205 + VAT.
