HGV drivers can now find essential walkaround check information in different languages.

The 22 translations, which have been added to GOV.UK today (21 September), are designed to help with routine checks at the roadside where a driver’s first language is not English.

It also explains problems with tyres such as condition and tread depth – issues we commonly see.

The guidance is designed to be bite-sized, so is quick to read for drivers carrying out daily walkaround checks – and easy to share for those managing drivers.

Sharing guidance at the roadside

We will be sharing this guidance with drivers when we carry out roadside checks, to reinforce the importance of daily walk-around checks.

QR codes will be added to our check sites, making it easy for drivers to access and read the guidance.

Please share with your drivers during toolbox talks or catch up meetings to reinforce the importance of effective daily walkaround checks.

Drivers can choose their language from the list of translations at the top of the page. The video guide on this page has also been translated.
